Project Description
Wergo means the sense of curiosity bloomed in a child and no adult experiences it with this quality.
Wergo is a cultural recovery and redesign of a brilliant method: Community-based education.
The joy of learning through accessible technologies comes true in Wergo and its projects.

The Challenge
Illiteracy, diminishing academic motivation, and a more widespread occurrence of dropout post-COVID, due to deficiencies in virtual education, have become more prevalent. Academic decline and discontinuation after completing the preliminary educational period are consequences of this phenomenon. A significant portion of children’s cognitive and social development takes shape in school, with foundational subjects contributing in various ways to this growth. Disillusionment with education and
reduced academic motivation lead to missed opportunities for the growth and cultivation of children. Among all subjects, mathematics holds significant potential for fostering logical, critical, and social thinking; however, it has become unfavorably perceived, and its teaching process has suffered more damage. The abstract nature of mathematical learning has made its acquisition challenging. Current passive teaching methods result in less willingness to endure the challenges of learning mathematics.
OUR APPROACH
Research & Problem Solving

We engaged in discussions with educators, entrepreneurs in child and adolescent education, and child development psychologists regarding creating an interactive mathematics education event for children. Through these conversations, we identified existing needs and capacities.
Assisted by a team of enthusiastic youths, the idea of a community-based educational event was experimentally designed and implemented. Our goal is to establish a sustainable, engaging educational stream in any subject for children using the most optimized teaching methods, and in the first step we focused on Mathematics.
DEVELOPE
Wergo Summer Camp (MVP)
1- Teaching science to 6th and 7th grade children. in Sanandaj
2- Math educational and entertainment program
3- 4 days
5-The educational program combination of educational games designed by Vargo and Oxford University researcher Dr. Joe Buller.
6- Presentation by {online} instructor
7- 3 educational facilitators to complete the educational experience for children

Impact
After the 4-day camp, a survey was conducted with children and parents:
1. The parents announced that the children prepared for the program with more enthusiasm every day than the previous day
2. More self-confidence to face issues that they don’t know and don’t know
3. They express their opinions without fear in the classroom
It was an honor to collaborate with SEED Foundation, who made this experience possible.

Not Knot
“Not Knot” is an educational toy designed to aid in understanding mathematical knots. This toy, developed to address the needs outlined in the curriculum of the WERGO project, features a base with three axes (X, Y, and Z) that allows users to construct various knots from 2D diagrams using ropes. The shadow of the knot, created by a light source and a screen below the toy’s structure, represents the corresponding 2D diagram of the knot. Users can observe live changes in the shadow (2D) as they manipulate the rope (3D), enhancing their spatial visualization skills and understanding of topology.
Additionally, through a gamified process, knots are encoded with sounds (using a xylophone), which strengthens the gameplay mechanism and integrates the five senses to create a deeper and more enjoyable connection between the player and the learning material.
